Purpose-built for Aerial Fire Suppression

The Cloudburst Fire Bucket is manufactured from corrosion-resistant materials designed to withstand high levels of abrasion. This means each aerial firefighting bucket can be filled from various water sources, utilizing the optional shallow-fill external pump for austere environments. It can be dip-filled from fresh water, salt water, and chlorinated swimming pools. Cloudburst is trusted by military and civilian operators worldwide.

Tough & Durable Fire Buckets

The Cloudburst Fire Bucket is made of tough and durable Urethane-Coated PVC, an industry-recognized super material that is both tough and flexible. As a collapsible helicopter fire bucket, it is strong, load bearing, impact-resistant, and able to withstand high operating temperatures. The exact material we use to manufacture this external load water delivery system is trusted by the US Navy and Coastguard because it is non-marking, offers excellent UV stabilization, and strongly resists the growth of algae and fungus.

Self-Contained Additive Injection System

The Cloudburst Fire Bucket features an optional Additive Injection System activated by a simple push button. A pump delivers a foaming agent for a timed period, with the duration determined by the pilot or crew. When they are ready to dispense foam, they simply press the button to commence the timed operation of the pump.

Cloudburst Water Capacity Control

Control over payload capacity is critical when fighting fires from the air. The pilot may need to carry less water in the aerial firefighting helicopter bucket to safely account for varying fuel loads, altitude, or weather conditions across Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 aircraft operations. Compared with traditional monsoon buckets, Cloudburst features a Multi-Drop Valve, allowing for easy adjustment of water volume.

Multi-Drop Monsoon Valve for Efficient Flight time

The Cloudburst Fire Bucket ‘Monsoon Valve’ gives the aerial firefighter a more efficient use of both water resources and flight time by utilizing multi-drop capabilities. This means the pilot or crew have total and precise control of their payload, whether the wildfire is isolated or scattered across multiple hot spots. Cloudburst Fire Buckets are available in a wide range of capacities to suit various aircraft and operational needs.

FAQ

Is the Cloudburst suitable for initial attack operations?
Yes. The Cloudburst Fire Bucket is well suited to initial attack helicopter firefighting, where fast deployment and rapid response are critical. The CB420 through CB1000 are purpose-built for initial attack operations on light helicopters, offering fast setup, quick valve actuation, and a rapid dip-and-fill cycle for repeated water drops.

These models are compatible with select helicopter cargo baskets on aircraft such as the AS350, helping operators maintain streamlined deployment during time-sensitive fire response. The smaller CB130M to CB280M models also offer quick setup, making them ideal for R44 helicopters and other piston helicopters.

Can the Cloudburst be used with foam or fire retardant?
Yes. The optional Additive Injection System delivers a timed volume of foam concentrate or fire retardant into the water load. The system is available as either a lightweight bladder that attaches to the inside of the Cloudburst Shell, or a rigid tank stored in the aircraft cabin. The Additive Controller ensures accurate and consistent dosing with every drop.
What Long Line Length do I need?
IMS recommends a Long Line of 50ft (15m) or greater for all Cloudburst Fire Bucket operations. Long Lines are manufactured to client specifications in standard lengths of 50ft, 100ft, 150ft, and 200ft, or custom lengths on request. All IMS Long Lines are constructed from low-stretch rope with a durable UV-resistant PVC cover.
